Tai Tanzania
About
Tai is dedicated to empowering young people in Tanzania by addressing critical barriers to education, health, and inclusion through storytelling and technology. Guided by a vision of creating equitable opportunities for all, we focus on ensuring that marginalized groups, particularly youth with disabilities, are not left behind. Our mission is to create an environment where people living with disabilities can have equal opportunities to thrive like any other individual regardless of their background or physical appearance.
We have made significant strides in promoting inclusion. Through the Pamoja Project, we have reached over 6,000 youth to foster environments that embrace diversity. Additionally, more than 4.5 million community members, including parents and educators, have been engaged through outreach and media campaigns to challenge stigma and promote the rights of people with disabilities.
Our most recent digital tool, the Tai App represents a groundbreaking step in our mission to use technology for social change. Designed for online and offline functionality, the app provides curriculum-aligned educational content, life skills, and stories that resonate with young people. To ensure inclusivity, the app incorporates assistive features such as text-to-speech and voice-to-text, enabling access for youth with hearing or visual impairments.
Our work has shown tangible results, such as improved awareness of challenges faced by people living with disabilities, improved digital literacy, and enhanced self-confidence among students with disabilities. With ongoing innovations and partnerships, Tai is shaping a more inclusive future where no young person is left behind
