Tom Rüütel

I am a man in the latter third of my life, having seen a fair bit of the world. Despite my mobility challenges, I have worked for 12 consecutive years and completed my master's degree.

I have worked as a case manager and believe that a person should be able to do the work they are interested in and have studied. A workplace can always be adapted, and the world is full of assistive tools. Employers also need support in raising awareness about different disabilities and illnesses. Employers should be encouraged to see the person, not the disability. That is my job!

My educational and work life has been relatively logical, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t faced difficulties and doubts. Life is not just about work and school. I believe that life exists somewhere between home and work (school), where other people and challenges are found. I love to jump out of a functioning airplane and am discovering the wonderful world of diving for myself. I equally cherish a wild rock concert and going to the sauna on my home island of Saaremaa.
