About me
Michele Shapiro is a Director who began her career 37 years ago at AHRC NYC. She has always worked in the Employment and Business unit supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to explore, obtain and maintain meaningful employment. Over the years, she has been instrumental in the programs continued growth and success which now annually supports over 2,000 individuals. Through her leadership she has developed many business partnerships and initiatives that promote and increase workplace diversity and inclusion. Within this role, she was responsible for creating the Partnership for Inclusive Internships, a public-private program that connects people with disabilities to internship opportunities in government leading towards employment. She has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Social Work from New York University.
