About me
Andrew Sentoogo Ssemata is a Senior scientist under the Disability Research Group (DRG) at the Medical research Council/ Uganda virus Research Institute and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MRC/UVRI & LSHTM) Uganda Research Unit, Entebbe. Additionally, Andrew is a member of the International Centre for Evidence in Disability (ICED) and a Research fellow in the Department of Global Health and Development at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
Currently, Andrew is a co-researcher leading a team on the Missiing Billion project focussing on access to healthcare for persons with disabilities that utilises participatory learning and action for disability (PLA-D) groups for people with disabilities in Uganda in 2022-2026. He is also involved in developing training manuals for healthcare workers on disability inclusion. Andrew also leads a team on working with young people with disabilities on disability inclusion in health research institutions
His research interests include disability studies, specifically in the context of access to healthcare. He also has an interest in the study of mental health and sexual and reproductive health for persons with disabilities, particularly within the African context
