About me

Cristóbal Miralles is PhD. In Industrial Engineering and Full Professor at the Industrial Engineering Faculty of Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) in Spain, where he also lectures at the Master on Corporate Social Responsibility. His main research line is focused on the design of systems and workplaces accessible for people with disabilities through the use of Industrial Engineering tools; with multiple works published at international conferences and indexed journals, and also dealing with evaluation/edition tasks for some of them. From his expertise in applied projects and consultancy, his research approach is also widened to other stakeholders within the CSR framework, defining models for translating sustainable policies & strategies into the best operative practices.

He lectures in four languages and is usual invited professor at prestige universities and during five years (2011-2015) has been the Chair and coordinator of the Working Group on “Ethics and OR”, a research network with more than 80 members inside EURO (European Association of Operational Research). Since then, he is in charge of CEDAT Foundation within the UPV, dealing with different issues related with disability, and contributing to minimize the accessibility barriers of students both in the Campus and in the labor market. Through its Sheltered Work Centre, the foundation also promotes the socio-labor inclusion in collaboration with local stakeholders and launching visible activities that increase awareness in (and out) the UPV community.

In 2022 he became director of the Valencian Interuniversity Chair for Innovation in Social Services, working closely with companies, institutions, and social agents in the region, and supporting several Service-Learning collaborations. These experiences, together with his inner interest on Values Education, have resulted in several case studies and moral dilemmas that he applies at the classroom in order to build critical&ethical reasoning skills in the students.
