My organisation

At Inclusion International, we are a global federation of family-led organizations advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. We unite families, self-advocates, and supporters to influence policies and practices that promote equity and social justice across the world. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities through knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and innovation, ensuring that the voices of those we represent help shape inclusive societies. Together, we strive to create a future where everyone can flourish, regardless of their abilities.

About me

I'm from Minnesota, educated at UChicago, earned my MBA at UMN. We have three sons, one of whom, Charlie, lived his whole life with multiple disabilities that certainly had a profound effect on me. Charlie died 10 years ago at age 30 after a lifetime of school and community inclusion. In the last 30 years, I have been politically appointed in disability leadership roles by the Clinton, Obama, and Biden administrations. I am president of Inclusion International and sit on the general assembly of the International Disability Alliance.
